Waste-to-Energy technology has often raised some questions among the citizens. Considering that the Media and Journalists are still very important means of reliable information, at LIPOR we believe that we should keep a close and trustworthy relationship with them, providing accurate and relevant information about our Waste-to-Energy Plant and performance.
In this event, which took place on 6th June 2018, during the European Sustainable Energy Week (an initiative promoted by the European Commission) journalists from different media were invited to participate in a debate on the theme of Waste-to-Energy, its importance in waste management and the projects that LIPOR is developing in this field.
Following a presentation on this subject by Abílio Almeida, representative of LIPOR explaining how the plant works and what the main issues and advantages of this technology are, the debate was promoted with a question and answer session. Despite being an informal session, the debate was very constructive with several relevant issues being addressed.
At the end of this session, we provided a technical guided tour to our Waste-to-Energy Plant, giving participants the opportunity to visit the facilities and verify first-hand how the whole process works.
This kind of direct communication initiatives have been proven to be very successful, with the publication of several positive news on the topic afterwards.
