CEWEP Congress
16th June 2023
Today CEWEP wrapped up its 10th Waste-to-Energy Congress that was held on 14th-16th June in Berlin. With almost 250 participants from 29 different countries, it came to be the largest and most diverse CEWEP Congress to-date.
Experts from across Europe and beyond debated Waste-to-Energy and the European Green Deal, its contribution to climate mitigation and the role it plays in sustainable waste management. The main Congress day was closed with a lively communication session on Waste-to-Energy and social media. On Friday a Technical Seminar was proposed to the participants delving more into topics such as EU Industrial Emissions Directive, carbon capture technologies and PFAS.
Congress participants also chose the winners of the second CEWEP Awards. The Communication Award went to ISVAG, Belgium for cooperation with a popular cartoon character, Jommeke. The Technological Innovation Award stayed in Germany. It was taken by EEW Energy from Waste for their substitution of ammonia by wastewater in flue gas purification. And finally, the Integration Award was won by KHK Krakow, Poland for their plant’s community integration project.
